How a sauna session works

Most public saunas in Wales ask you to follow their own clothing and age rules. Read the venue, not a general rule. Bring a towel, water, and whatever the venue says about swimwear. Shower first if they ask you to.

Sessions are usually rounds: time in the heat, then time cooling down, then back if you want. Leave if you feel dizzy or unwell. Do not throw water on the stones unless the venue says you can. Ask before taking photographs. In a private hire, leave the room as you found it.

This page does not say what a sauna will do for your health. Check with your GP about heart conditions, blood pressure, pregnancy, epilepsy, and medicines that change how you handle heat. Cold water is a separate risk: enter gradually, never alone, follow RNLI guidance, and do not dive.
