Is Wales a Country?
Following my travels I was asked is Wales a Country? It seems this has been asked quite a few times by people across the globe.
To confirm Wales is a country and a very proud one.
It’s one of the four countries that make up the United Kingdom (along with England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland).
A few key points:
It has its own devolved government, the Senedd (Welsh Parliament) in Cardiff, which controls areas like health, education, and transport.
Wales has a distinct culture, language (Welsh/Cymraeg), and history.
However, it is not a sovereign state — foreign policy, defence, and some other powers are handled by the UK government in Westminster.
Wales is a country you should visit and explore.
